A New Star Shines in IPL 2025 – On Tuesday night in IPL 2025, cricket fans saw a new star – Priyansh Arya. Playing for Punjab Kings, this 24-year-old batsman scored a fast 103 runs in just 42 balls against Chennai Super Kings. This was his first IPL century, and that too in his debut season.

Priyansh hit a six on the very first ball of the match over deep point off Khaleel Ahmed. He made 16 runs in the first over and kept playing well even when wickets were falling at the other end. His innings included 7 fours and 9 sixes.

Coach Said – He is a Special Player

After the match, Punjab Kings’ assistant coach Brad Haddin praised Priyansh. He said, “From the first practice, we knew this boy is special. He even praised a good ball after getting out to Jofra Archer. Today he showed how quickly he learns and how mature he is.”

Born in the T20 Era

Priyansh loved hitting sixes from a young age. His coach Sanjay Bharadwaj, who also trained players like Gautam Gambhir, Amit Mishra, and Unmukt Chand, said, “I tell everyone to play in the ‘V’, but I never stopped Priyansh. I saw his power and gave him freedom. He never looked back.”

Famous from Delhi Premier League

In 2024 Delhi Premier League (DPL), Priyansh scored 608 runs in 10 matches, with 2 centuries and 4 fifties. His strike rate was 198.69. In one match, he even hit 6 sixes in a single over, which caught the attention of scouts.

Star in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

In 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Priyansh was the top run-scorer for Delhi. Against Uttar Pradesh at Wankhede Stadium, he scored 102 runs in 43 balls, hitting 10 sixes. After that, Punjab Kings bought him for ₹3.80 crore in IPL 2025 auction.

From Struggles to Success

Priyansh’s father Pawan Arya is a teacher in a Delhi government school. His mother Radha Bala is also a teacher. His father said, “He was 7 years old when he said he wanted to play cricket. We never compromised on studies. He got 67% in B.A. and is now doing post-graduation from Delhi University.”

Proud Moment for Coach and Father

Coach Sanjay Bharadwaj remembers, “I once told him that one good match is not enough. As soon as the scouts came to DPL, something changed in him.”Priyansh said, “I can’t explain my feelings, but I feel very happy inside. I had decided that if the first ball is in my slot, I will hit a six. I want to express myself and not limit my game.”
